February 2010
As the West Coast of the U.S. is hit hard with several weeks of nearly non-stop rain, the Central and EAstern parts of the U.S. are seeing record snowfall. With that said, breeding season is well underway and foals are starting to arrive for many breeders.
Here on the farm we are monitoring several mares for breeding in the coming month and anxiously awaiting our three foals to arrive starting in May.
Bookings to our dressage stallion Noble are increasing as we head into February and I encourage anyone interested in breeding to Noble this year to book him soon.
Speaking of Noble, if I may do a bit of bragging, he looks spectacular! He is strong, well muscled, fit and working very hard according to his trainer Michael Etherly. The strength and fitness he has acquired over the last several months has added so much expression to his gaits. The video I take seems to be obsolete within months as he develops by leaps and bounds. I do plan on posting new video in March, so be sure to check back then.
Noble has his first outing in early March at 2nd level and we will be working towards qualifying him for Championships this year. We will also be presenting him at select PRE breed shows later in the summer.
The beautiful mare Joya D who was on lease to us has been sold recently and it is with a sad heart we say good-by. I would have loved to have a female version of her 2009 black colt Justino, but fortunately I have two breedings to him to use in the future.
On the up-side of this, I was fortunate enough to lease from my good friend Terry Waechter, two of her top PRE mares; Champion Movement Mare Galea MHF and Solena a granddaughter of Ebanisto for 2010 breedings to Noble.
I am off tomorrow to the United States PRE Association annual member meeting and look forward to all the events they have planned for us. I will certainly share what I learn and pass along any news of upcoming events. Sincerely,
